Professor Geoffrey Waterhouse has been honoured as a Fellow by the Royal Society Te Apārangi in recognition of his expertise in single-atom catalysts. He has designed innovative catalysts based on nanotechnology with a range of applications, including decarbonising the energy sector. They have been incorporated in next-generation devices that can store and convert energy, such as water electrolysers, hydrogen fuel cells and rechargeable batteries.
Professor Waterhouse is one of the leaders of the Energy Research Consortium, which launched in 2024 to drive research that contributes to a sustainable, equitable and energy positive future.
